2013 Quilt Competition Judges
Kathie R. KerlerPortland, OR Kathie has been quilting for 25 years and involved in needle arts since childhood. Since January 2007, she has been a contributing editor for American Quilter magazine, working with designers and quilters on articles featuring patterns, techniques, and quilting-related topics. Kathie began judging in 2002. As a National Quilting Association Certified Judge, she is certified to judge master quilts through NQA’s Master Quilt Program. As a fiber artist, Kathie has completed rigorous courses in design and embroidery at the London City and Guilds College of London, England and at the Lesage School of Needlework in Paris, France. In 2009, she completed a public commission for Clackamas County for Oregon’s sesquicentennial, the state’s 150th year anniversary. The quilt is on permanent display at the County’s Development Services Building. In 2010, Kathie was awarded first place in the Evolutions Challenge at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum and a solo exhibition in 2011. |
