HMQS 2013 is All About the Love!

Announcing the 2013 Show Theme:  “That’s Amore!”  Dean Martin’s famous song conjures up images of Italian gondoliers, leaning towers, beautiful coastlines, and pizza pies as big as the

moon!  But the word ‘amore’ encompasses so much more than just Italian life.  It means love.  This year’s theme encompasses all the things we love.  We at HMQS love quilting! We love seeing all of you, our quilting friends, each year at the show. And we love life!  And we want this year’s show to be about the things you love too!  We hope this theme will get you thinking about what you love most. We can’t wait to see your themed quilts.  Show us what you love!

Bridge of Love

Mission Statement: Bridge of Love will bring comfort and hope to the abandoned and needy children of Romania.

Bridge of Love is a non-profit organization created in 2001 by Scott & Laurie Lundberg of West Jordan, Utah. Two years before, in 1999, the Lundbergs and their children traveled to Romania to visit an orphanage during their Christmas holiday. There they saw a heart-breaking situation they would never forget. The babies and toddlers in the Romanian orphanages received only basic care – lacking much- needed love and attention. The Lundbergs decided that something had to be done to help give those abandoned children hope for a better life.

In partnership with Romanian foundations, Bridge of Love provides ongoing support to sustain children’s physical, emotional and educational needs, and to help them grow and succeed in life. Many of the children have been placed in foster care with Romanian parents, while some still are housed in orphanages and hospitals. Bridge of Love provides social workers and a psychologist to help these children overcome the challenges caused by their early years. The children benefit from a yearly summer camp, Christmas and birthday presents, classes and activities at the Bridge of Love office, winter clothing, medical help and medicine, and many other needs provided by Bridge of Love. The greatest thing the children have received is the knowledge that there are people who truly love and care about them.

Donations can be made to Bridge of Love with your class registration after Jan. 10th, or on-site at HMQS in May (either at the ticket booth or front registration desk). 100% of all donations will go directly to Bridge of Love.
