“Living With Quilts: A Survival Guide”

Learn creative coping strategies for quilters, but not necessarily for their families. Topics include how to pad your house (quilt display and storage), appropriate more studio space (why stop with the spare bedroom?), eliminate pesky distractions (cooking and cleaning), increase storage capacity (batting goes in the oven), and the best way to deal with the guilt of UFOs (ignore it)!

Ami Simms was trained as a teacher, and long ago in another life, she taught second graders. After a few years, however, her school district claimed they ran out of students ("declining enrollment") and gave her the boot. She was devastated, but it turned out to be the luckiest day of her life.

She became a professional quilter, combining her two loves: quilting and teaching. After 20+ years on the national circuit she still looks forward to every trip. She says she gets to work with people who never fail to inspire her. Ami only teaches subject matter about which she is truly passionate—no spelling or long division—and giggling in class is highly encouraged. She shows you everything she knows as long as you realize there isn't just ONE right way to do anything. You get to pick what works for you.

Ami is convinced that a life without quilting is pretty dull. And she is willing to leave her home and family for a few days each month to prove that point.
