Judy is an International Award Winning Quilter and Author and the MQX Machine quilting Teacher of the Year.

She is the author of two books including Freemotion Quilting. In 2012 she won the best Longarm Award at AQS Paducah show and has won several awards at Houston and over 100 other awards. She's appeared on quilting shows and been featured in quilting magazines.

She brings enthusiasm and an easy relaxed teaching style that helps even a beginner.

Even if you love feathers, you’ll want to learn different quilting ideas that you can incorporate into your quilting. This award winning quilter will share lots of fun ideas, many of which you can do without a lot of marking. Many of the most successful quilts are really using the positive and negative quilting to show off the designs in a quilt. Geometric, curling shapes and line work all make a quilt sing. Join us!

After you have been piecing or appliqueing for a while, most quilters want to learn how to design their own quilts. This teacher begins with a one-eighth miniature drawing and shows you how easy it is to follow good art elements to create your quilts. She’ll show you how to transfer the design to a fabric. You can learn about how to design special feather motifs and which compositions are best for your quilt.

Kit includes: Handout information on Art and Design.

Student supply list: Sketch book, mechanical pencils and several sheets of freezer paper.
The Art of Good Backfill for Beginners

Before you even start your quilting career, this award winning quilter will explain how important backfill is to a quilt. You’ll see lots of samples and inspiration in a slide show and then the teacher will show you how to start with easy backfill that builds to more complicated backfill that even a beginner can use. Even utility quilts need some backfill to make the quilt more durable and in rhythm. You’ll have fun.

Kit includes: Fabric and thread for hands on class.

This award winning teacher will break down all the different types of feathers. Then she’ll start adding unique ways to do the feathers, and when you get home you’ll be able to use these feathers in a center piece, or a border, or as an all over. Judy’s curving, all over feathers are easy and Victorian looking and you can learn how to do it. You’ll learn formal and funky feathers and make lots of money.

What Do I Quilt?

At every show people bring me quilts and ask me what to do. In this class we'll look at the quilt you bring, and teacher and students will draw things on the board and give you lots of fresh ideas. This award winning teacher will tell you what she considers when she decides and why. If time allows, we'll walk through quilt show and talk about why their quilting works.

Student supply list: Bring an unfinished quilt and camera. Make sure you bring pass to get into the quilt show.
