This workshop is designed to help speed up the process of machine quilting. Pam Clarke will share her convenient, proven and helpful methods of creating outstanding continuous designs. Discover the easy to follow instructions to customizing and personalizing your quilt tops. This workshop will begin with sketching in a workbook provided by Pam Clarke. Follow along as she draws these designs using an overhead projector and discover the effective and convenient approach to unlimited designs using basic lines as a reference guide. Then using the pre-stamped fabric provided in kit, stitch these designs using the longarm machine.

Fearless Beginnings to Free-Motion Quilting

Discover the secrets to smooth quilting and basic quilt designs using your mid-arm machine, longarm machine or home machine. This class is designed to save time and gain confidence. If you are new to machine quilting or not comfortable with free-motion quilting this class is for you. Pam Clarke, a Longarm machine quilter since 1988 will guide you in this step by step no fuss-method. This workshop will cover how to mark a quilt top, several background stitches, and the seven basic quilt patterns to create unlimited quilt designs. You will be amazed how easy it is to do feathers, hearts, leaves, waves, etc. Using the pre-stamped sample provided in kit, practice these designs using the Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen. And with a little bit of practice you will be amazed how simple this really is; you will be finishing those quilts tops faster than you ever thought possible.

Feather Sampler

Gain the confidence in learning the simple traditional feather design to be used in borders, triangles and blocks. Pam will first start you out on the basic shape needed for a very simple feather and then guide you in stitching an allover feather design to be used as side to side quilting or as background stitching. You will be amazed how easy a heart, swirl and circle will make beautiful feather’s to be used in blocks, borders and rectangles, triangles and squares. Then watch how to stitch a full feather border by adding rooster tails to fill up the space.

Kit includes: Pre-marked fabric, backing and batting, workbook, dry erase pen and plastic sheet proctor.

Side to Side and Free-Hand Background Designs

Are you in a stipple rut? Join Pam Clarke as she shares with you her 25 favorite background and free-hand side to side quilting designs with no marking. Provided in Kit a workbook, pre-stamped fabric for the student to stitch a sampler; draw along and stitch making a sampler looking wall-quilt of all these great free-hand shapes; Swirls, leaves, loops, stars, waves, ivy, echo, paisley, holly, flowers, roses, clamshells, hearts, orange-peel etc. along with several samples will be available along with hints where and when to use. Borders, Borders and more will be the topic of discussion in this workshop. Learn four corner/borders techniques that will change the way you approach your next quilt. Several samples and techniques will be covered in class along with a workbook to keep notes. Using your workbook, follow along with Pam as she draws these borders using an overhead and learn how to design these effortless borders. Working with corners, borders and sashing is the goal using several straight line stencils as references points to develop outstanding designs to help speed up your marking and quilting time. Discover how to deal with problem borders or sashing and which design works best in these areas. You will be amazed how simple borders can really be! This class is for the Confident Beginner to the Advanced Quilter using the mid-arm, longarm or home machine.

Discover the secrets to free-motion design for set in triangles, flying geese and different shape blocks and borders. Some simple Designs with Lines technique will be covered along with how to use the registration lines to keep spacing even with very little marking. Discover how to work with flying geese in a continuous motion filling up the triangle and background with the least amount of stops. Leave class with loads of ideas and designs that are traditional along with fun and easy. This class is for the confident beginner to the experienced quilter.

Do you love the look of the Modern Quilts but think you need loads of experience to make one? Even if you are new to machine quilting you will gain the confidence on how to fill up those empty spaces with fun free-motion designs. Discover how to turn those orphan or left over blocks into a piece of art.

I will have lots of samples and ideas for you to observe and take photos so you will be able to create your own.

My background Designs class is helpful but not needed. We will be working on a pre-drawn sampler for the student to fill in different designs. With very little marking, stitch; touching hearts, loops, double loops, feathers, paisley, Herky jerky, onion stitch, orange peel, lazy hearts and lots of new designs not taught in previous classes in curves odd angles and borders then add a few leaves or circles after stitching or take it home and add your own appliqué.
